Sanctuary 2

“Sanctuary” is a painted Plexiglas maquette.  It came into existence when I was trying to plan the use of the leftover scrap steel cutouts from the construction of “Reaching For the Stars”.  During it’s creation, I began to wonder if people’s experience in religion is different when viewed through art.  Art and religion are allies in the conflict between science and religion because they both speak to the spiritual side of human existence.  I believe that the modes of discovery, creation, and advancement of understanding through art should be taken as seriously as science.  There is something very powerful about art.  Look at how Islam abolishes idolatry through art.  What is beyond us, what we long for, what we hope for, what completely surpasses us.
